So, I was feeling inspired by momofukufor2.com and decided to make Spam musubi for the first time. They turned out okay. I had to cut the bottom of the Spam can to create the mold. That was probably the hardest part. I altered the recipe a bit by adding a bit of seasoning (rice vinegar, Japanese spices and toasted sesame seeds) to the rice. I didn't have sweet soy sauce so I added a tablespoon of sugar to the soy sauce and then cooked the spam in a non-stick pan.
I like the ratio of rice to equal the same thickness as the Spam so there is not too much rice to Spam in the ratio. The first one that I made had WAY too much rice in it detracting from the crunch of the nori to the saltiness of the Spam to the subtle flavor of the rice.
I wonder if I should feel bad that I fed my toddler Spam for the first time
